Texture from Mayang's Textures
Be “Sine Cera” (Sincere)
Sincere.
The word comes from a Latin word “sine cera” meaning “without wax”.  In the original Greek it means “sun-tested”.
In Bible times merchants sold very fine porcelain that was greatly valued and therefore very expensive.  Sometimes when it was fired in the kiln, tiny cracks would appear. Dishonest merchants would smear pearly white wax over these cracks, which would pass for unblemished porcelain – unless it was held up to the light of the sun.  Honest merchants marked their wares “sine cera” – “without wax”.
That is a picture of genuine sincerity.
No sham, no hypocrisy, no hidden cracks to be covered over.
Be Sine Cera.
Be on the inside, what you are on the outside, be real, be truthful, and be honest.
People will respect you for that, even if they differ with you.
Remember Today: BE SINCERE!

old-world-map
If there were a list of all the stuff you want, want to do, or dream of, how long would that list be?
Would it begin with something you have already achieved?
Would it end with “die with a smile on my face?”
Where would this list take you?  To the ends of the Earth, or to the deepest reaches of a man’s soul where courage and introspect reside?
When I look at the men and women who have accomplished great feats and have seen
magnificent things, I wonder what makes them different than me?
They are in better shape, no doubt…well, not exactly.
They have money; you must to have money to realize dreams, right?  No.
Then it has to be someone who has no desire to have a family or live the American dream, right?  Not in the least.
The difference between one like me and those merry souls who have seen the dark and lived to tell the light is a pen, a calendar, and a map.
They just do it.  They plan it.  They make it happen.  They put it on paper and take the necessary steps to achieve it.
So you want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro…then put it on the calendar!  You want to meet the Dalai Lama?  Then put the pieces together to do it.  You want to hike across the border of Pakistan and Iraq, you may be insane.
The only difference between those whose life we desire and those who lead lives of quiet desperation is ACTION.
I suspect it all comes back to desire.  Do we desire adventure more than we desire other things, such as comfort and convenience?  I can give you comfort and convenience, just stop by Best Buy and hit the Lazy boy showroom on the way home.  I have convenience. I can access the Internet from my blue ray player.  The reality is desire must exist.  It is the single most important trait a man can have.  First, a desire for the one True and Living God.  Second a desire for others.  Last, the desire to improve himself to the honor and glory of God.
What could you do with a pen, a calendar, and a map?
What will you do?

What is your favorite restaurant of all time?

Why?

Most likely the reason you love your favorite restaurant is not the location, building, music, environment, cost, or the wait staff.  The reason most of us love our favorite restaurant is the food

Reggie’s Barbecue and Wings in Jackson, Tennessee has been around for 29 years.  It has occupied several locations in Jackson; including a shed-like structure with seating for about 10 people to one of its current locations inside a gas station in North Jackson.

The reasons Reggie’s has survived these less than desirable locations are due to two factors:  A hardworking owner and award-winning food.  People drive from all over West Tennessee to eat some of the best barbecue and wings money can buy.

A restaurant’s survival or failure depends mainly on the food.  They may have the greatest environment, the best prices, and best looking wait staff, but if the food is below par it is only a matter of time until they close their doors.

Where you work….you are the food

People may come in the door due to your location, they may really enjoy your environment, and they may be thrilled with your products, but they will choose to stay and come back later…because of you!

When people talk about a business, I have rarely heard anyone complain about the lighting, the carpet color, or the location.

People bank, shop, or purchase from you because you give them what they are looking for, a relationship and a smile.

Now…go upgrade your menu!

Remember today:  BE TOP NOTCH FOOD!

By the way…check out Reggi’s BBQ here. (and turn down your speakers)

Feed the Wolf

An old Cherokee told his grandson, “My son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all.  One is EVIL.  It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, and lies.  It is pride and ego.  The other is GOOD.  It is joy, peace, love, hope, encouragement, kindness, and empathy.  It is truth and humility.”

The boy thought about it, and asked, “Grandfather, which wolf wins?”

The old man quietly replied, “The one you feed.”

As You Associate, So You Become

We become the product of three things: the people we associate with, the books we read, and the media we listen to.

Charge with rhinoceroses, fly with eagles, run with cheetahs, and eat with lions.

Don’t hang around with cows or sheep. They will pull you down.

Associate with doers, achievers, livewires, and people with positive attitudes and you will stay a fully charged person!

Associate with sleeping cows, sloths, or jackasses and you will become complacent and unsuccessful.

Be aware of who you associate with today. Are you flying with an eagle, or walking with a sloth?

Remember Today: YOU BECOME WHO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH!
